How To Set A Default Frame Rate
In this tutorial, we'll be looking at the frame rate, and how to change the default option of 12, which isn't particularly suitable for smooth animations. The frame rate is how many frames will elapse every second, so with the default option of 12, that means there are 12 frames per second (FPS).
It can get annoying having to change this to a more useful number every time you open Flash. A way to rectify this is by changing the default frame rate. To do this, locate the frame rate display, just beneath the timeline, which should say "12.0 fps".
Double click the "12.0 fps" text, and a Document Properties window will appear. Near the bottom of this box, you will see a frame rate box with an editable value, which initially displays 12. Change this to a higher number for smoother animations. A more suitable frame rate is around 30 fps.
Once you have done this, instead of clicking the "OK" button (which just temporarily changes the settings for this one document), click the "Make Default" button at the bottom left. Now you can click "OK".
Your frame rate will permanently be changed, even if you open and close Flash. This can be changed at any point using the above method.
